私は元々短気な性格なので、日常的にちょいちょい腹が立つことがあります。腹が立つ原因は様々なのですが、何故腹が立つのかよくよく考えてみると、それは今までの自分と異なる考え方や価値観と出会ったからなのかもしれません。「コイツ、非常識な！」と感じるその常識とはなにか。自分の中の物差しに過ぎませんよね。ひょっとして非常識なのは自分の方なのかもしれない。そう考えると、感情的に反射することの危険さが分かります。前向きに考えるなら、腹が立つ瞬間というのは、実は学びの機会なのかもしれない。新しい考え方に出会って、自分がバージョンアップされる貴重な機会なのだとしたら、それを怒りで失ってしまうのは凄く勿体ないことなのですね。

時々自分の歳のことを考えます。もう51歳。若くはありません。自分が二十代の頃、五十代の人は明らかにオッサンでした。下手したら年寄りと思っていたかもしれません。その歳に自分がなったということを自覚して、新しいことや若い人に学ぶ機会を与えられているのは有り難いことなのだと思えれば、それはまだ若さを失っていないと言えるのではないでしょうか。人は学ぶ気持ちを失った時に、本当に老いるのだと思います。なかなか感情を抑えることは難しいのですが、自省を込めて学ぶ機会に感謝の気持ちを持てるよう努力したいと思います。
